As you will probably be able to tell from my tool box of crochet tools I have been around the crochet block for a while. Crazy I know!  

I think my start of my crochet no pattern journey came because I am left handed and I crochet tightly so the different hooks size helps me get the gauge I want. 

I have not been a pattern crocheter and that is probably why I have so many hooks. 

I mostly let the yarn determine what hook is used for a project. I do swatch from time to time but mostly let the yarn/crochet hook determine the design I am going to use. 

As an experimental crocheter, one finds that different size crochet hooks are valuable when one wants to determine what the final crochet piece will become.
