Experiment on orb
I decided to see what would happen when I wet the felted orb then paint acrylic paint on it before embellishing on it. I wanted it to bleed a little then have paint on top. We shall see how it ends up once it is dry and embellished. Read more

On the Eve of Dawn -orb

2nd mini orb
I finished a second mini orb. This one is in burgundy. These are a challenge to embellish as the smallness of the size but definitely quicker to complete than the larger ones. These are a little larger than a ping pong ball. Read more

“Plums in Snow” orb
I wanted to use some bendable wire on the orbs and this natural one begged to use the purple color wire. The wrapped wool sets it off. Read more

“Round and Round We Go” orb
Golden orb is different shades of yellows to golden felted wool. Chips of turquoise and light rust wooden circles fill in the spaces between the circles. Turquoise fuzzy yarns in the centers of braided circles finish the textural work. Read more

This orb of soft blue wool is indicative of renaissance royalty and sits instead of hanging. The bejeweled top is reminiscent of a king. With hearts and pearls surrounding him. Read more

Dry as a bone this orb was ensnared in a crocheted fish net of soft sun bleached tones to dry. The flowered urchins cling to the orb and emit an oyster like pearl tone. Read more

Natural wool and addition of raised wool before felting adds depth. Reinforcing the ribs is done with green chenille yarn and fun fur yarns. Half moon shells give it an armor against predators. Cracked geode
This is a green felted orb and wanted it to have the feel of a geode that was cracked open to see the beautiful depth of lines and angles of the gems inside. Fuzzy moss growing over it lends an earthiness to it. Finished on just one side belies what is on the inside. Read more

Using variegated yarn in purple, pinks, lime green and deep fuchsia colors and adding raised pieces before felting that gave hills and valleys after felting.
